Louisiana Center for Equine Reproduction, LACER - New Facilities
located at 660 Montgomery Rd. Opelousas, LA. 70570

Set on 276 acres near Opelousas, Louisiana, LACER was specifically designed to facilitate the development of advanced equine reproductive services.

Built and managed by Dr. Eddie Cramer, DVM, the facility's stallion roster for 2010 currently includes first year sire Fast Prize Dash; first crop sire Contend, who is the sire of 2009 Oklahoma Futurity(G3) winner Del Shake; and Looks Royal, who first crop will foal in 2010.

Just minutes from Evangeline Downs, LACER's main barn consists of five stallion stalls, a collection room, laboratory, mare treatment room, office and 40 mare stalls. There are six two-acre paddocks designed for ample turnout during the day for mares and stallions. The remainder of the property is currently being used to maintain a portion of the embryo recipient herd and will be available for future growth and development.

The state of the art lab allows the utilization of the latest breeding techniques in everything from semen freezing and storage to embryo transfer and freezing along with everything in-between.

Dr. Cramer, a 2002 graduate of LSU School of Veterinary Medicine, has lived his entire life in Southern Louisiana, growing up in Crowley.

"I have been in an exclusive equine veterinary practice since the time of my graduation with a particular focus on equine reproduction," Dr. Cramer said. "I began maintaining a herd of recipient mares for the purpose of embryo transfer five years ago. This herd has now grown to over 250 recipient mares", he added.

Dr. Cramer has done an extensive amount of embryo transfer work for Robicheaux Ranch, Blanchet Farms, Tate Farms, Jumonville Farms, and a large number of individual racehorse clients.

"While my focus over the past few years has been on the mare side of the equation, we have expanded to provide additional stallion services," Dr. Cramer said. "We are looking to grow to the point of standing five quality stallions at LACER," he added.

LACER provides a full range of equine reproductive services including semen freezing, breeding soundness examinations, embryo transfer, embryo vitrification (freezing) and a range of surgical infertility treatments for mares.
